The Quiet Power of Emeralds
There is a reason the emerald has never gone out of fashion. Where a diamond dazzles and a ruby demands, the emerald simply holds its ground — deep, green, and completely sure of itself. It is the stone of quiet confidence, and it has been for the better part of five thousand years.
At Tamara, the emerald sits at the heart of the house. Our namesake forest-green is drawn from it. And when we set one, we do so with a great deal of care — because no two emeralds are ever quite the same.
Choosing the Stone
Emeralds are, by nature, imperfect. The tiny inclusions jewellers call the jardin — the garden — are not flaws to be hidden but proof of a stone grown in the earth rather than a laboratory. We look for colour first: a saturated, even green with just enough depth to feel serious, never flat. Clarity matters, but character matters more.
True luxury does not announce itself. It is simply felt.
Once chosen, each emerald is set by a single artisan, surrounded by brilliants that lift its colour without competing with it. The result is a piece that reads as effortless — which, of course, is the hardest thing to achieve.
Living With Emeralds
Emeralds are softer than diamonds and deserve a gentler life: kept away from harsh chemicals, cleaned with a soft cloth, and stored on their own. Treated well, an emerald will outlive all of us — which is rather the point. We make jewellery to be handed on, and the emerald is the perfect stone for it.
If you'd like to see our emerald pieces in person, we'd be delighted to arrange a private viewing.
